A few months ago we moved into a new house. We love our new home; it is big, bright, and has a giant yard. We live out in the sticks, so we see a lot of fun wildlife in our yard, like deer, foxes, groundhogs, and rabbits. The kids love it!

Our new home

When we bought our house, we started several projects right away. So far we have put in new tile floors, carpet, blinds, and a few other things. All the walls and trim were cream, and we wanted to have more color in the house. So I took on the task of painting the entire interior of the house. Our main color palette is dark tan, chocolate brown, and roasted red pepper, with bright white for all the trim, doors, and ceilings. To date I have painted most of the ceilings, 3 bathrooms, the family room and half of my office. I only have 11 rooms left...ha...ONLY 11 is no small task. Painting is a lot of work, but I do love how it transforms a room and sets the mood. I love sitting in a freshly painted room. It is so clean and beautiful and it makes all that effort worth it.

Our family room

Our family room has tan walls, and then one accent wall we painted chocolate. We really like the two-tone look in that room. I will post more pictures of the other rooms as I complete them. I can't wait to finish this project so that we can fully unpack and organize the house and enjoy our beautiful walls. Farewell, I need to get back to painting!

Re: New House & Painting

It is so good to see current pictures of your kids and see your new house! Good job on the painting! That is hard work. This will be great to be a fly on your wall and keep up with you. Now I just need to follow your example and update my blog and keep it up. I hear you are coming to Albion, ID after Christmas! Is it true? That will be great! It is a very comfortable place for us all to be together. Talk to you soon!

We're so excited to see all your updates! The house looks beautiful! Sure hope you have a riding lawn mower for your huge lot... (or a couple cows) :) keep the posts coming, we love to hear from you guys!

This makes me tired thinking of all that work! But I'm loving the color scheme and I'm sure you'll make your house design amazing. It already looks like a home out of a magazine. Awesome!

Re: New House & Painting

Thanks, everyone, for your encouraging comments. Emily, thinking about it makes me tired too, which is why it is slow-going - I really have to motivate myself to even start a new room, or finish one I've already started. Heather, yes, we will be doing the reunion thing. It will be so great to see everyone! Brian & Rachel, yes, we did get a riding mower for the yard. Our previous mower was an electric one. Can't imagine how many cords we would have had to string together to reach our entire yard. It would have been pretty funny to see that!
